Whether it’s Tiger Territory, Gorilla Kingdom or the Land of the Lions that gets your eyes bulging, London Zoo is calling animal-lovers galore to come and wonder at its incredible range of rare and exotic species. From gigantic giraffes to plodding penguins, the zoo houses animals from every continent – there is even a nocturnal area where you can see what animals get up to when your eyes are shut. Interaction is also possible: either head to the Animal Adventure children’s zoo or try being a Junior Keeper for a Day.
The zoo offers a range of special events and workshops great for kids, such as its Silent Cinema, where well-loved animal films such as The Jungle Book are played at the zoo’s open-air cinema, after a visit to the featured film’s starring animal.
On a rainy day during Lockdown I visited ZSL London Zoo to do their Virtual Tour. The website was really good, it tells you about all of the ZSL Zoos and for the little ones it has a Zoo School.
I liked that they included loads of videos of all the animals because it makes you feel like you are actually there looking at the animals! I didn’t like that the videos were so short because sometimes you wanted to see more.
I give this virtual tour 10 out of 10, it’s amazing!
I love the zoo! Honestly, I don’t think the zoo loses it’s appeal at any age. Animal lover or not (although I am an animal lover), the zoo is so much fun. I loved seeing the amazing array of animals they had. Monkeys, Giraffes and even Lions. They had a really nice restaurant as well so we spent the whole day there which was a treat. As an added bonus, we got to see the reptile house where they filmed Harry Potter. That was pretty cool even though I don’t particularly like snakes!

The London Zoo is massive and quite busy, but it’s a great trip for the kids. At £35 for adults and £23 for kids, it’s not an inexpensive day out, but caring for thousands of animals isn’t either. See the painted dogs, komodo dragon, and giraffe pen.
Ah we love London Zoo! The Harry Potter reptile house is a firm favourite. It looks pricey but we’ve honestly never spent less than a whole day there, so it ends up being VFM and a real treat.
It’s HUGE btw.
The membership is well worth it if you think you might go more than a couple of times a year…. takes the pressure off and you can just pop in for a couple of hours……
